1:1 Art Therapy Services

Art Therapy for Adults and Children

Art therapy can be a meaningful and supportive experience for both adults and children. Each session is collaboratively created and client-driven—no two sessions are ever the same. Every person’s art therapy journey is unique, with a focus on empowerment, respect, and building a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship.

Our sessions are guided by evidence-based practice, drawing on a range of approaches including:

  • Trauma-informed frameworks

  • Neuropsychology and positive psychology

  • Developmental and attachment theory

  • Psychoanalytic insights

  • Mindfulness and polyvagal theory

  • Gestalt and systemic approaches

  • Brain-based practices and psychoeducation

This integrative style ensures that sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each client.

The Evidence for Arts in Health

Research continues to highlight the important role of the arts in health and wellbeing. In fact, in 2019 the World Health Organization (WHO) published a scoping review of over 3,000 studies, showing that the arts play a major role in promoting wellbeing and preventing ill health across the lifespan.

Individual Sessions 1:1

Individual art therapy sessions provide a safe and supportive space where you can move at your own pace. Together, we set collaborative goals and explore them creatively.

At the beginning, an introductory intake and assessment helps us gain a clear understanding of your needs and priorities. From there, sessions may be directive (guided activities) or non-directive (open exploration), depending on what feels right for you.

You’ll have access to a wide range of art materials. There is often time for personal creating, followed by gentle reflection on your artwork and process. This can open new awareness and provide a tangible expression of thoughts, emotions, fears, goals, and hopes—which we can then explore together.

Art Therapy for Children
Art therapy sessions for children are designed to be fun, safe, and collaborative. Together with you and your child, we set meaningful goals and work towards them in creative ways. Each session provides an inviting space where children can freely express themselves using a variety of materials—whether that’s clay, watercolours, painting, weaving, or sand play.

Art materials often become a bridge, helping children explore feelings, experiences, and challenges more comfortably. With gentle facilitation, the creative process supports children in building skills, confidence, and resilience—while also fostering a sense of mastery, relaxation, and wellbeing.

How Art Therapy May Help Children:
